Strengthening Educational Ties: ItaCham Facilitates ERASMUS Job Shadowing Project Between Italy and Cambodia

The Italian Business Chamber Cambodia (ItaCham) successful facilitated the establishment of an ERASMUS Job Shadowing project between Istituto Superiore Carlo Dell’Acqua di Legnano, an Italian high school from the Milano province, and CamEd Business School, one of Cambodia’s leading institutions for business education.

This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening educational cooperation between Italy and Cambodia, fostering an exchange of teaching methodologies, cultural perspectives, and innovative learning approaches.

As part of this collaboration, an Italian teacher has been spending a week at CamEd Business School, engaging with faculty, observing local teaching practices, and sharing valuable insights from the Italian education system. This cross-cultural learning experience is not only beneficial for the participating institutions but also contributes to broader academic and professional exchanges between the two countries.

A highlight of the exchange was the meeting held on Monday, February 24th, where ItaCham’s Chairman and Vice-Chairman, alongside Teacher Paolo Prina, had the pleasure of engaging in a friendly discussion with the Education Attaché of the European Union Delegation in Cambodia, Flora Bertizzolo.

The discussion centered on impact and benefits of the ERASMUS Job Shadowing program, future opportunities for expanding Italian-Cambodian educational exchanges, and the role of European institutions in supporting international academic collaboration.

The ERASMUS (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) program is one of the European Union’s most successful initiatives, dedicated to promoting international mobility, cooperation, and exchange in education, training, youth, and sports. Since its inception in 1987, ERASMUS has expanded into Erasmus+, a broader program that includes not only student exchanges but also opportunities for teachers, educators, and professionals. Its goal is to enhance skills, encourage cultural understanding, and strengthen international partnerships through academic and vocational training.

A key component of Erasmus+ is job shadowing, a structured learning experience that allows teachers, educators, and professionals to observe and learn from colleagues in different countries. By spending time in a host institution, participants gain first-hand exposure to new teaching methods, work environments, and educational best practices. This initiative fosters an exchange of knowledge, where professionals share insights, innovative methodologies, and effective pedagogical strategies, ultimately improving their own teaching or training approaches. It also provides an opportunity for cultural immersion, allowing participants to understand different educational systems and adapt best practices to their own institutions. Furthermore, job shadowing strengthens international collaboration, helping educators establish long-term professional connections that can lead to future research projects, curriculum development, and student exchange programs.

Originally a European initiative, ERASMUS+ has expanded its reach to partner countries worldwide, including Cambodia and Southeast Asia. This expansion allows institutions outside the EU to engage in collaborative projects that promote academic growth and cultural exchange. The collaboration between Istituto Superiore Carlo Dell’Acqua di Legnano in Italy and CamEd Business School in Cambodia, is an example of ERASMUS Job Shadowing project, and a testament to ItaCham’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between Italy and Cambodia through education. By creating meaningful partnerships like this, ItaCham continues to pave the way for deeper academic collaboration, cultural understanding, and professional development for students and educators alike.

We look forward to seeing this initiative grow and inspire more Italy-Cambodia educational exchanges in the years to come!
