Soundskool & AWEN: An Italian-Driven Investment in Cambodia’s Creative Future

Empowering the next generation of Khmer talent takes more than good intentions—it requires vision, commitment, and partnerships that bridge creativity, education, and opportunity. That’s exactly what the collaboration between AWEN 2025 and Soundskool Music Cambodia represents: a meaningful alliance to elevate youth expression and nurture artistic potential in a country where music continues to grow as a vibrant force for social and personal transformation.

Soundskool, established in 2014, has become Cambodia’s largest provider of music education, delivering tens of thousands of lessons each year across Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. With programs tailored for students of all ages—from playful early-childhood music through to advanced training in guitar, piano, drums, vocals, violin and more—Soundskool stands out not just for the breadth of its curriculum, but for its commitment to fostering confidence, creativity, and discipline in young learners. It’s also an official RSL Exam Center, giving students the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized music certifications, opening doors far beyond Cambodia’s borders. Music, in this context, is not merely an extracurricular activity; it is a form of self-empowerment. Through music, students learn to express themselves, to collaborate, to think critically and creatively. It provides a language that crosses cultural and generational divides—an especially powerful tool in a society as youthful and dynamic as Cambodia’s.

This is why the partnership between AWEN (Asian Women Entrepreneurs Network) and Soundskool matters. At the Pinnacle Entrepreneur Forum and the AWEN Awards Night, Soundskool students will have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of business leaders, creatives, and changemakers. These are not just performances; they are moments of visibility, where talent meets recognition and inspiration meets opportunity. For AWEN and its local branch, CamWEN, this collaboration aligns with their mission of nurturing inclusive leadership and innovation. And it’s worth noting that this support comes from an Italian-founded business initiative that has long championed cultural and educational cooperation between Italy and Cambodia. Through the KMH Foundation—the CSR arm of ISI Group and a key partner of Soundskool—a robust music scholarship program has been launched to provide training, instruments, and performance opportunities to talented young Cambodians who otherwise could not afford it. This initiative is more than sponsorship. It’s a demonstration of how international business and local talent can grow together, creating a future where artistic expression is supported as a core part of national development. The investment in these young musicians is, ultimately, an investment in Cambodia’s cultural identity, creative economy, and global voice.

In a world where music often struggles for recognition within education systems, Soundskool’s work—and this partnership with AWEN—offers a powerful reminder: when we give young people the space and support to create, we don’t just build better musicians. We build stronger, more imaginative, and more resilient societies.
