Sunday 15th, Day-2 of the three-days event organized in honor of the Italian National Space Day (Giornata Nazionale dello Spazio) took place with a workshop conducted in hybrid mode at CamEd Business School (CamEd).
The workshop, part of the three-days celebrative event, has been organized under ItaCham – Italian Business Chamber Cambodia by Professor Corrado, Vice-Chairman of ItaCham and Associate Professor at CamEd. The event featured three days of a small expo in CamEd’s hall, where paintings created by a Khmer artist specifically for the event on the theme Space Apsara, together with banners, traditional Khmer dancer (Apsara) crowns, and a looping video were displayed carefully in the hall, for CamEd students and the public. The video materials were provided by the Italian Space Agency (ASI).
The highlight of the three days was the hybrid workshop held yesterday.
The event at CamEd welcomed several distinguished speakers, both in-person and online, including:

- Morokot Cheat, Deputy Director, Satellite Department, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC)
- Prof. Sarot Srang, Institute of Technology of Cambodia
- Fabio Cardani, NPlus
- Prof. Stefano Seriani and Prof. Anna Gregorio, University of Trieste, Italy
- Stefano Natali, MEEO
- Anilkumar Dave, Senior Consultant for Space Economy
- Dr. Seanglidet Yean, SEC-Singapore-ETH Centre
The event opened with H.E. Lor Tith Chansopheak discussing investment opportunities in the technology sector in Cambodia. This was followed by Morokot Cheat, who provided an overview of the initiatives undertaken by the MPTC and the Cambodian government, as well as the government’s priorities and vision in the space sector.
Subsequently, Natali, Yean, and Cardani discussed various satellite applications in different fields both in Italy and Singapore, showcasing examples that could be relevant for Cambodia’s ecosystem. Professors Seriani and Gregorio from the University of Trieste and Prof. Sarot from Techno, focused on research and collaboration opportunities, while also addressing current challenges in Cambodia and highlighting projects conducted in Trieste.
Finally, Anilkumar Dave concluded the event by discussing how Cambodia could organically develop a local space economy, leveraging collaboration with Italy.
Among the audience were both the Director (Casey Barnett) and Deputy Director (Matthew Pocock) the American Chamber of Commerce, H.E. Samnangseymony Norn, Chief of the Secretariat of the Trade Policy Advisory Board, Andrey Kuzin, CTO of Cellcard, journalists, Dr Kimang Khun, CTO of AI Farm, and various other researchers and company representatives.
As mentioned by Prof. Corrado, this event wanted to be not the end, rather the beginning, of a collaborative endeavor between Italy and Cambodia, through space applications.
