In a important initiative to bridge academic learning with practical experience, today 15th March, students from CamEd Business School (CamEd) visited Khmer Green Charcoal (KGC), a pioneering social enterprise producing friendly charcoal briquettes. This visit, thoughtfully facilitated by ItaCham (both CamEd and KGC are esteemed members), provided students with invaluable insights into sustainable business practices and the production of eco-friendly products.
Khmer Green Charcoal, established in 2012 by an Italian entrepreneur, Carlo Figà Talamanca, has become a leader in producing environmentally friendly charcoal briquettes. The company transforms coconut shells and agricultural waste into high-quality charcoal briquettes, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional charcoal. This process not only helps reduce deforestation but also lowers CO₂ emissions, contributing to environmental preservation. KGC’s products are recognized for their longer burn time and reduced smoke, which enhances the user experience while promoting health and safety.
Visits like the one to KGC, bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This initiative allowed students to witness firsthand how business operations can integrate with environmental stewardship, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices in today’s business world.
